Are you planning a hike in the US this year?
If you are, you may be planning to head to the capital of hiking in the US, which is Arizona. That’s all well and good, but the hikes around Arizona are known to be long (with some of the shortest being thirteen miles) or, for those who are superstitious, haunted. They aren’t called the Superstition Mountains for nothing!
So, if you are planning a simpler and less spooky hiking trip, then why not head to Missouri? Yes, it may not be known for its hikes but there are some fun, simple and breathtaking walks you can take, which will look fabulous on your Instagram!
Waterfall Hiking Trail Head
Difficulty Level: Rated easy and suitable for beginners
Located near Westgate’s Branson resorts, the Waterfall Hiking Trail Head is perfect for those who are new to hiking, but also want to see some stunning scenery.
As the name suggests, this trail has a cute waterfall, with a rock pool, as well as some dense tree canopies, which make it perfect to take on a sweltering day. The trail itself is unpaved, and is two-thirds of a mile long, making it suitable for families with kids, or for those who have mobility concerns.
Wallace State Park
Difficulty Level: Rated as easy and suitable for newbies
Interestingly, at Wallace State Park there are two trails that you can take: either separately, or together, as they loop and guide you through the preserved woodland. The hike in total is three miles and takes you around Lake Allman, as well as some other deep ravines.
If you are a fan of deer, fish, frogs, and even woodland song birds, be sure to pack your camera, as you will see plenty of them!
Table Rock State Park
Difficulty Level: Rated as easy/moderate and good for those new to hikes
Speaking of hikes that have more than one route, the Table Rock State Park has three distinct types of trails to take. If you are brand new to hikes (or you have children) then it is best to take the Table Rock Lakeshore Trail, which is paved, has no elevation, and is under three miles long.
If you are up for more of a challenge, then the Chinquapin Trail is ideal, as it is rated as moderate and allows you to take in the woodlands at an elevation. The trail is over a mile long but, it’s pretty rugged!
Mozingo Lake Recreation Park
Difficulty Level: Ideal for hikers of all abilities
This park has over nine miles of hiking trails, suited for hikers who are starting out or are looking for a more adventurous option.
The simplest trail, suited for those hiking with kids or for beginners, is 1.3 miles and is paved, with no elevations. It also has the option of horse riding during the summer months, which can add a fun twist to traditional hikes. All the hikes take you through the woodland and around Mozingo Lake, whilst allowing you to see and experience the abundant wildlife and enjoy the crisp, green forest.
